Ahh.. TOTALLY forgot to post these few weeks ago. I DID shoot with two primes.. 85mm 1.8 and the 100mm 2.8. Both lenses are amazing, albeit totally new to me in portraits. I’m just so used to shooting with zooms, kinda makes one (me) lazy! Had to actually move around to compose shots! A few samples from that shoot with Ella. It took some time but she finally started to warm up and smile… of course towards the end of our session!
Also wanted to wish my youngest a happy 7th birthday.
Welcome to Saturday! I do hope everyone had a productive week.
I have a rescheduled portrait shoot for tomorrow. We got rained out last weekend.. thought that might have been fun in the rain! I am strongly considering going with prime lenses only for this shoot. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a long time, and by chance, I happened to have on loan a 100mm prime, along with my 85mm, which I forget I even own! It’s easy to be lazy with a zoom lens and just stay still, vs walking around and getting CLOSER to your subject. Should be interesting.
I’ll also be using that 100mm prime to shoot some additional jewelry for a client. I did some shoots few months back, though turns out one of the pieces was upside down! Need to fix that as well as a few new pieces. That canon 100mm 2.8 macro lens is amazing. 1:1 aspect ration. Very nice.
Finally, “I AM AN ODDFELLOW!”. Yes it’s true. (Hold back on the jokes please!) If you are unsure what that means, or what Oddfellows are or do.. click the link. Short version: IOOF is a fraternal organization that raises money and gives it away. Philanthropy. I originally joined the Longmont, Colorado Lodge #29, but since I’ve been back in California, I’ve been attending the Redondo Beach Lodge meetings. All that said, the RB Lodge is having the
22nd Annual Magic Show on Feb 4 2012 @ Hermosa Beach Playhouse.
Tickets are $25 prepaid, $30 at the door. 7pm show.
It’s a professional show, with magicians from The Magic Castle performing. It isone of our largest fundraisers, so I’d appreciate the help. If you would like tickets, let me know.
I might also be covering the show as the photographer.. that depends the magicians and what I might see or not see.. can’t give away secrets. Stay tuned on that.

Morning Everyone and TGIF! What a week!
So.. STILL playing catchup from the end of 2011.. just about caught up on processing all the personal/family shoots I did. It was really nice not having a system there for a bit, but alas, hard to deliver to clients (or family) being in boxes. I admit, I took the easy, lazy route. Hung out with the kids and wife.. watched some TV.. but no more!
With that said.. here is a nice little pic I snapped at my best friends baby shower last weekend…. nothing spectacular, just a fun image to start the year!

Seriously? Where did the month go? December just flew right on by. Of course being “unplugged” for the past 2 weeks didn’t help, (or did it!? ) Why was I unplugged? Ahh.. well. Relocated the home/office/studio… a mere 7 blocks away, but still ALOT of work! Packing, moving, unpacking…and now spending 2-3 days setting the office back up. Blah! Seriously, moving is one of my LEAST favorite things to do.
I did a few shoots this month, mostly personal projects, family coverage (birthday and holidays), though have not processed any of it. Will be catching up after new years with that as well as sharing some exciting news/projects that I have planned for 2012.
